0
The Army has got the responsibility for constructing a new bridge at the site of old bridge washed by recent floods near Ajhrail on New Jalpaiguri - Barsoi - Katihar / Howrah route. As per the updates shared by local resident Mr. Ali Raza, the work is being done at fast pace and around 20% work is completed now. However, it would take few weeks for construction of the complete bridge and restoration of rail traffice on the main route connecting north-east region including Guwahati with Howrah (Kolkata) and national capital New Delhi.

Is should be noted that the railway track and bridges at many places was damaged by the heavy flood in Kishanganj and Katihar starting from 12th August, 2017. Even now, after 10 days many places are waterlogged and people are battling for survival. And in this grim natural calamity the damage of railway tracks has paralysed the movement of affected people as well as people wish to travel in the north-east region of country.
