Kishanganj Dr Kalam Agriculture College

Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj has been established on 10th August, 2015 by the order of the Govt. of Bihar. After foundation Bihar government decided to rename the Kishanganj Agriculture College in the remembrance of the former Hon’ble President Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Hon’ble Chief Minister Bihar said "It was Dr. Kalam who suggested the inclusive growth model for Bihar which is rich in cultural heritage and I am happy that working on his suggestions for development has taken Bihar to a new height over the last 10 years”. Moreover, Kishanganj is known for good quality tea production apart from pineapple and jute and the first district in Bihar to produce tea at large scale. D.K.A.C., Kishanganj always in readiness to serve the farmers and concerned officers Zone – II of the State.

This College has been established with under mentioned objectives:

• To impart education in different branches of Agriculture.

• To undertake strategic and applied research for developing need based agricultural technologies.

• To disseminate scientific information’s to the farmers, youth and women.

• To plan, organize and conduct on campus and off campus training programmes on different subjects to develop human resource capability in the field of Agriculture, specially with value addition mission approach.

• To provide consultancy service in agricultural field, NGOs, industry and others.

• To serve as repository of scientific informations in various aspects of agriculture of Zone II by collaborating the relevant agencies for future planning ensuring all round development in agriculture and allied fields in the state of Bihar.

• The main objective of D.K.A.C., Kishanganj will be ensuring growth in agricultural production by controlling/ managing natural calamities, devastation and disasters of the zone I.

Infrastructure Developed:

At present the D.K.A.C., Kishanganj is being run in one KVK building and two other rented buildings for hostels. The main administrative building is located in KVK, Kishanganj while Boy’s & Girl’s Hostels are located near Dey Market and Subhash Palli, respectively in Kishanganj town.

In the main Administrative Building of the College, teaching of the students, training of the farmers and other related official works are being performed. In this building, there are one Lecture room, Principal Chamber, Office Room and Scientist Room.

The construction work according to the Master Plan is going on and is to be completed shortly.
