National Conference slams Bihar Govt to delay AMU Centre

1
New Delhi, September 30, 2011: The AMU Centre Coordination Committee Delhi has organized “National Conference for the establishment of AMU Study Centre in Kishanganj, Bihar” at India Islamic Cultural Centre in Lodhi Road, New Delhi on Friday. The national conference has been attended by RJD Supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi – the Congress MP from Kishanganj, the AMU VC Prof P K Abdul Azis, Akhtarul Imaan – MLA from Kochadhaman (Kishanganj), noted journalist Aziz Burney – the Group Editor Rashtriya Sahara (Urdu), many academicians, social activist and around thousand of Delhi based working professionals and students belonging to Bihar.

AMU Centre Coordination Committee is running a campaign for the AMU Study Centre in Kishanganj for past two years. Lead by Mohammad Aslam (an Engineer by profession), the Committee has the key members, namely Mohammad Mudassir Alam, Khalid Mubasshir, Kaifee Anwar, Mahfooz Alam, Mohammad Mansoor Alam and Matin Iqbal. Along with the key members, the committee has support of around 10000 people belonging to Bihar and currently studying or working across the country and abroad especially in Gulf.

The national level conference was fully focused on making the ways easier for the establishment of AMU Study Centre in Kishanganj, Bihar. It should be noted that the proposed centre is getting delayed for past three years due to negligence attitude of Bihar government. The Bihar government is claiming time and again about offering the required 250 acres of land to AMU administration. However, the fact is that the land is in three pieces, water logged and illegally encroached by tribals on the guidelines of some local politicians. The AMU VC is demanding the land as per the University rules that says the 250 acres land should be in one piece, controversial free and have 30 feet wide road connecting with state or national highway.

The main motto to organize the national level conference was to give a warning message to insensitive Nitish Kumar led Bihar government. Bihar is one of the most backward states of India, it badly need development in education front, and a Central University like AMU will be a bonus for the deprived people. In the presence of renowned politicians, journalists and activists, the Committee has declared a democratic agitation against the Bihar Government for the establishment of AMU Centre Kishanganj. The committee has vowed to fight for the noble cause till it gets a physical shape in Kishanganj. AMU Centre Committee is also running an online movement on Facebook with the group name AMU Centre Bihar Movement.
