Farzana Ahmad has been honoured with bravery award from the Bihar Governor. Know more about Farzana below.
When floods were wrecking havoc in Bihar -- taking lives, property and livelihood in its spate -- Farzana Ahmad, 15, stood out for her exceptional bravery. One that will be remembered in her little village for a long, long time.

Farzana -- a poor girl who dropped out of school -- risked her life and saved five people from drowning in the swollen waters of the Panar river in Purnea district in September.

That day she was washing clothes by the river, when she saw an over-loaded boat carrying 15 people capsize in the water. She quickly jumped into the river and rescued three children, a man and a woman from the water.

"Farzana jumped into the river without wasting time, after she heard them cry for help," says Jamil Ahmad, her proud father, a landless labourer.
