Congress MP from Kishanganj in Bihar, Asrarul Haq Kasmi on Sunday said that immediate implementation of Sacchar Committee recommendations is the need of the hour.
"Rights of all communities, be it major or minor are equal," Kasmi said addressing a function by All Indian Milly Council (AIMC), Gujarat, to honour him for his contribution to the community.
"What the minority community, especially Muslims lack is educational infrastructure and resources. For this, the government should to implement the Sacchar Committee recommendations at the earliest," he said.

The Sacchar Committee Report on social, economic and educational status of the Muslim community had produced a compendium of information required by government for planning, formulating and implementing specific interventions, policies and programmes to address issues relating to the backwardness of the community. Kasmi said problems of Muslims in the country, unless it is addressed as a national problem, cannot be solved.
