Mahananda Express set ablaze at Hatras, havoc among passengers

Train movements on Delhi – Kanpur section has been disrupted following the mob attack on Delhi bound Mahananda Express (4083) at Hatras Railway Station on Wednesday (September 30) morning. Mohammed Sarwar Alam, a resident of Kishanganj travelling in Mahananda Express informed about the incident over the telephone.

According to Sarwar, a mob of around thousand people have jammed the railway tracks and surrounded the train from all side. After throwing stones on the boggies of Mahananda Express, the mob set ablaze a sleeper coach.

Though the police cordon is available at the railway station, but incident of taking any action they are behaving like mute spectator. The passengers of the train are in chaos and high fear. Most of the passengers have come outside the train, leaving behind their belongings in train itself.

Meanwhile, the railway authority has guided the passengers travelling in AC coaches to remain inside their boggies.

Importantly, the passengers were already in trouble due to late running of Mahananda Express, which is running more than 16 hours late. Now the fire in train and disruption at Hatras Railway Station has created havoc among passengers. As the last report came in at least four trains are in fire and still the passengers are waiting for any strong action.
