The Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has reached Kishanganj on Sunday (June 3, 2012) in his special rally called as Seva Yatra. Kumar will be in the city for three days to interact with the common people of the district. Along with giving green signals to many development projects, Nitish Kumar is expected to visit the site of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Special Centre situated at the outskirts of district headquarters adjacent to Chakla Village. It should be noted that Nitish Kumar shifted the AMU Centre from Katihar to Kishanganj and his government provided 224.02 acres land at Chakla. At the mean time, the opposition political leaders are not happy with the 'Seva Yatra' and criticising it in many ways.

The district administration has worked day and night for past one month to ensure the best arrangement for the Chief Minister. The main roads / streets that are supposed to be crossed by Kumar have been reconstructed / renovated for smooth travelling. As per report, the electricity (light) condition has also improved for past a couple of days back, and people are getting maximum hours of service.

The Seva Yatra was started about six months back in the year 2011 by Nitish Kumar to explore all the districts of Bihar including remote areas. Kumar has come with this concept by giving his logic that he wished to connect with common people and listen their plea. However, the Seva Yatra of Nitish Kumar has gained wide criticism for its high cost (budget) and also stating it as a 'Personal Propaganda' of the Bihar CM. This past month the cavalcade of Nitish Kumar was attacked by protesters at Buxar on May 23, 2012.

Nitish Kumar has visited Kishanganj during his first tenure between 2005-10, when he had announced many projects but most of them are still to come into effect. This time people have high hope with Nitish Kumar but it will be too early to say anything about the outcome as the people of district are still facing lots of issues. Kishanganj needs urgent attention in the sector of health and sanitation. Also the district is badly gripped in the corruption activities done by government officials from the railway reservation counter to different offices. Nitish Kumar's 'Seva Yatra' can't be completely said a useless step but it depends how the scheme declared by him come into effect.
