A tribute to Salma Khatoon, wife of Kishanganj MP Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi

Salma Khatoon, wife of famous Muslim scholar and Member of Parliament, Maulana Mohammad Asrarul Haque Qasmi, died in New Delhi on 9th July, 2012. She had been struggling with life for last six months was under regular treatment in Delhi’s Batra Hospital. She was 66 and is survived by three sons and two daughters both of whom are married and have children.



Daughter of Vilayat Hussain, Salma Khatoom was born in 1945 in Tappu village of Kishanganj and was married to Maulana Asrarul Qasmi on 16 May 1965. She had lived a very simple life as a caring wife and mother. 



With the news of her demise hundreds of people from national capital Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), and people of Kishanganj district and Purnea Commissionerate of Bihar living in Delhi rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where her body was embalmed. 

Condolence message poured in from different parts of India and prayer meetings were held at various places. Condolence messages were also sent from Saudia Arabia, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom and some other countries. May Allah forgive her sins and get her Jannah. Ameen!

Her body was taken to her native place in Kishanganj, Bihar where she will be buried on July 10, 2012. Her funeral prayer will also be offered at the mosque at Markazi Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters in Abul Fazl Encalve, New Delhi after Isha prayer on 10 July.
