Apna Kishanganj Series! Kidnapping cases on high rise, administration fails to nab the kingpin

0
KishanganjBihar.com brings another concern related to the district of Kishanganj in Apna Kishanganj series. The rise in kidnapping cases in Kishanganj and neighbouring districts has put a question mark over the modus operandi of administration. When the kidnapping cases are being noticed almost every day, the administration is showing lackluster approach and till date no any circular is issued for the police stations located in various parts of the district.

Kidnapping of kids varying in age from three years to 10 years has been reported from different parts of district and neighbouring areas like Islampur (Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal), Dalkolha (Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal), Baisi (Purnea), and villages situated adjacent to National Highway 31. Till date dozens of kidnapping cases of kids have come into notice and many reports have already published. However, the district administration of Kishanganj and neighbouring districts have completely failed to nab the gang of kidnappers. Although few suspected persons have been caught by local but the police failed to reach the group of kidnappers.

This past week the people of a village near Thakurganj railway station had caught a suspected kidnapper and handed over to police. While taking away five-year-old daughter of Mohammad Fareed the kidnapper was spotted by the some villagers. The worked as whistle blowers and in result large crowd gathered on the spot and thrashed the kidnapper. Later on police was informed and the villagers handed him over for legal action. The kidnapper claiming himself as Raju Kumar Chand is belonging to Bothia village from Bhamgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. The police had arrested the kidnapper and taken him to Thakurganj police station for further action.

Similarly, many other kidnapping cases have been reported from other villages of Kishanganj by authentic sources. On Eid-ul-Fitr day (August 20, 2012) three children were kidnapped from Eidgah of Kamalpur village (Kochadhaman block). The children were later rescued from Janta Hat by locals and handed over to their parents. Few days later a couple of children were kidnapped from Baisi and Dalkolha, who couldn’t be rescued.

Now coming to the point, in the recent time kidnapping cases are on high rise in Kishanganj and adjoining districts but the administration of respective districts failed to put hold on the same. Although few suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the police but they couldn’t reach the kingpin of the kidnapping nexus. People of the area are in extreme shock and havoc over the kidnapping cases, which is rising with every passing day. Need of the hour is that the administration should circulate an alert notification across all the police stations to stop the kidnapping cases. At the mean time, the common people and parents / wards of the children should remain alert and work as whistle blower if they come across any suspected person or kidnapper.
