In an important women empowerment initiative the Kishanganj District Police has recently issued a toll free Woman Helpline Number. Now women of Kishanganj district can directly dial @ 1091 to inform about any type of exploitations done with them it includes domestic and social. The information was shared by SP (Superintendent of Police) Manoj Kumar recently during a press meet.
Kumar said, “The Woman Helpline has been established and whenever any suffering lady will dial on 1091 the phone will be picked by a Woman Constable.” In fact, the complaining lady would be able to share her grievances easily with lady cop, told SP Kishanganj. Further he added that the women living in villages would be trained by through Anganbadi Centres about the new helpline number and the ways to keep them safe from the bad elements and touts who push them in prostitution racket.
Launching of Woman Helpline Numbar in the district of Kishanganj is really a good move. We all should appreciate such techno-friendly steps, however it depends on concerned officials how fast they will take essential steps to stop the exploitations done with women.
