Kolkata: Campaign against the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Murshidabad Campus suffered a major setback after the judgment of hon’ble Calcutta High Court dismissing PIL (Public Interest Litigation) that asked for stopping the work on AMU campus. On 26th February, 2013, the Calcutta High Court dismissed the PIL.

A lawyer Kanad Naskar of Kolkata filed a case against AMU campus in Murshidabad. On behalf of Kanad Laskar Advocate Kaushik Chandra argued in the Calcutta High court that, According to Aligarh Muslim University act 1920 there was no provision to establish any branch or campus radius of 25 km from the main campus.
