Wikipedia, the world’s biggest free online directory is showing Muslim as second largest population in Kishanganj town of Bihar. This is really shocking for the Muslim dominated district, how the Wikipedia has figured out the population percentage. Since independence the district situated in north-eastern part of Bihar and country is dominated by Muslims. The government records itself say that the district of Kishanganj is having second biggest Muslim population after Kashmir Valley. However, the details given in Wikipedia is misleading and somehow signals towards a handy-work of some miscreants.

If we check the government records about census of Kishanganj, it says around 65-70 % of district population comprises of Muslim. Rest of the population comprises of Hindus, Jains, Christians and followers of other religious faiths. Similarly, if we take Kishanganj town population the ration is about 55:45, around 55 to 60 population belonging to followers of Islam, rest are followers of Hinduism, Jainism, Christianity and other religions.
Although Wikipedia data can’t be considered authentic by anyone including any agency, but the matrix shared on the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kishanganj is harmful for the Muslim minority concentrated district. Fact is that, the central government as well as state government have certain special funds for minority concentrated district like Kishanganj. The misleading statics given on Wikipedia page is harmful for the Muslims residing across the district. It may stop special grant (funds) given away by the national and international agencies.
Editor of KishanganjBihar.com has written to Wikipedia to rectify the census details given on religious faith basis. The residents of Kishanganj district are suggested to write Wikipedia for making correction in the religion statistics.
