12 students including 2 girls from Kishanganj cleared JEE (Mains) 2013

12 students including 2 girls from Kishanganj district of Bihar have cleared the Joint Entrance Examinations (Mains) conducted by The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Interestingly all of them were students of Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School situated in district headquarters of Kishanganj. As per informed sources 12 candidates from Kishanganj belonging to various categories have successfully qualified for JEE Advanced entrance. Candidates who have cleared JEE Main from Kishanganj are Anil Basak, Pratyush Kumar Sinha, Abul Fazal, Mohd Zeeshan Anwar, Bulbul Paswan, Yasmin Naaz, Aditya Kumar Somani, Milan Chatterjee, Sawan Kumar, Harish Sinha along with two others. The results were declared by CBSE on Tuesday (May 7, 2013). The successful candidates are being congratulated by their family, relatives and district people.

Out of total marks 360, the cut-off quality for JEE (Advanced) is 113 for General Candidates, 70 for OBC (Other Backward Classes), 50 for SC (Scheduled Caste) and 45 for ST (Scheduled Tribe) candidates. From the state of Bihar 81,000 students had appeared in the first phase examination of JEE Main that includes 48,000 from Patna. 

Only top 1,50,000 candidates (across all categories) who has qualified in Paper I of JEE Main would be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2013. A total of 75,750 candidates have been named in the common merit list (General Category students and few from reserved categories). Around 40,500 candidates from OBC, 22,500 from SC and 11,250 from ST have been figured among the 1.5 lakh eligible candidates. Persons with disabilities will form 3 % of each of the above merit lists.

Those who could not qualify for the second phase of JEE Main (JEE Advanced) can get admissions in technical institutions across India other than IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). The normalized score of their Class XII / qualifying examination would be considered. The JEE (Advanced) would be held on June 2, 2013. The admit card for JEE (Advanced) would be made available between May 16 and 31, 2013 and the final results are expected to be declared on June, 2013. Final list of candidates who didn’t qualify for JEE (Advanced) would be declared on July 7, 2013. This list would enable the candidates to take admission in technical institutes other than IITs.

How to Register for JEE Advanced?
Those who have qualified for JEE advanced need to register online between May 8 and 13 at www.jeeadvonline.iitd.ac.in or www.jeeadv.iitd.ac.in Once the candidates are done with registration formalities further they need to pay the requisite examination fee Rs. 1, 800 for General Category and OBC male category candidates and Rs. 900 for SC, ST and physically disable male candidates. Candidates require to pay the fees through the receipt generated during registration process at any State Bank of India (SBI) branch having core banking facility on or before May 13, 2013. Female candidates belonging to all categories (General, OBC, SC, ST and physically disabled) have been exempted from the examination fee.
