In first ever of its kind incident the Executive Council (EC) of Aligarh Muslim University had decided to cancel the M.B.B.S / B.D.S entrance test of 2015. The decision was taken by EC in a special meeting called after the report of unfair means practiced by candidates at Kozhikode Centre in Kerala. As per the report more than 30 students (candidates) had qualified for M.B.B.S only from Kozhikode Centre, which put the AMU administration under suspension and finally after lots of brain storming and meetings the matter was brought before Executive Council where the decision of cancellation was taken.
The fresh entrance test for M.B.B.S / B.D.S shall be conducted in the first week of August, however the exact date is not declared by the AMU administration. AMU had conducted M.B.B.S / B.D.S 2015 entrance test on 26th April at 33 centres in AMU alongwith Kozhikode (Kerala), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Bareily (Uttar Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Kolkata (West Bengal), Hyderabad (Telangana), Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), Patna (Bihar) and Guwahati (Assam).
A total of 44,700 candidates had appeared in the test this year for 145 seats of M.B.B.S and 35 seats of B.D.S. When the result was prepared by the AMU Academic section the concerned officials were suprised over the data of Farooque College in Kozhikod, from where alone 30 candidates qualified in the merit list. Around 70 seats are offered to external students in AMU and qualification of 30 students from a single centre created doubts. On 23rd May the Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen (Retd.) Zameruddin Shah called a meeting of Executive Council and put hold on the result. A three member committee was constituted which submitted its report on Thursday in which it was suggested to cancel the examination, which has never happened earlier in the history of AMU.
