Activists called off the Hunger strike for AMU Kishanganj Fund

#SaveAMUKishanganj #SaveEducation  the movement (campaign) run by civil society of Kishanganj came to an end with assurance of district administration to carry (put forth) their demand for fund release to the concerned. 


A group of activists set on the dharna followed by Hunger Strike since 9th February 2019 at district headquarter of Kishanganj called off the movement on Sunday. Activists Asif Rahman, Wasiqur Rahman, Dr. Zareef Ahmad, Zaki Anzer along with the team of dozens of people called off the strike after assurance of SDM Kishanganj Firoz Akhtar in presence of Kochadhaman MLA Master Mujahid Alam and others. 

As per the update from activists they have given the deadline of 2 months for release of fund for AMU Kishanganj. If the fund will be not released  the activists would again sit on dharna, said the sources. 



It should be noted that AMU Kishanganj Centre is in financial crunch and the token amount of Rs. 136.2 crore as announced by the Central government is yet to be released. After a long wait of about 8 years since the 224.2 acres land transferred to AMU by Bihar government  the civil society came on a common platform and staged the dharna at Kishanganj.
