Girls of Kishanganj deserve Social Equality

5
We feel proud in referring ourselves as resident of Kishanganj. We always tend to count our achievements and explain it before others. Today, with our sincere efforts we have made our presence in various fields of education. Hundreds of us are now settled in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and also in foreign countries. But the fact is that we are still living in darkness and not focussing our attention towards a major issue related to our beloved district.

Of course, we have developed ourselves in various fields, but our development is restricted to boys only. Even today girls of our district are far behind in comparison to boys. According to 2001 census, about 20 per cent of girls in Kishanganj are literate and it is the least educated district in India. Situation of girl literacy in Purnia, Katihar and Araria district are almost similar. Most of the parents and wards of Kishanganj have dual standard for their female child. For sons they never hesitate to spend lakhs of rupees, but for girls they always made economic status a blind shelter.

The harsh truth is that the girls of Kishanganj are still living in British era. From childhood to motherhood, the girls of Kishanganj always sacrifice their desires. Partiality among the boys and girls start from the childhood. Boys are sent to school after gaining some sense, while girls co-operate mother in household. Schools always remain a distant dream for them and college is nothing less than fairy tale for them. Only few parents send their girl child to primary school, more for mid-day meal not for studies. As the girls attain puberty, the parents start to search the groom for her marriage. Hardly the girl reach to the age of 15 or 16 and she get married. Early marriage also cause a number of physical ailment to girls. Here also girls compromise for the social customs and status of their parents. Next during the marriage life also the girls face a number of problems, due to early marriage.

Here I put an important question before you people? How long the girls will suffer from the social injustice? I think this is the right time for all of us to speak in the favour of girls and make their situation fairly good in society and family as well.

  1. Once again kudos to Mudassir for exposing the stereotype against girls in Kishanganj. However facts say something diffrent.Kishanganj is itself lagging behind in each and sundry aspect.Lowest litrecy rate is enough to prove the social inequality in the district. However, still girls are doing fair enough.Parents should come forward empower their daughters.

  4. REALLY GIRLS R PART & PARCEL OF THE SOCIETY
WITHOUT THEM THE SHAPE OF SOCIETY CANNOT BE EVEN DARED TO BE DREAMED OFF;I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT THE MALICES DONE TO WOMEN HERE R MUCH LESS THAN THE SITUATIONS IN INTERIOR PARTS OF RAJASTHAN[AT LEAST IN MY VILLAGE SONTHA]
