Chowk, Chaurahas of Kishanganj

Kishanganj district is full of chowk, chauraha (cross-roads) commonly dotted with pan-walas shops, mithai wale ki dukan or chai wale ki dukan. Set on the busy streets, the chowk, chaurahas make an ideal place to pass some leisure time away from home. Usually in these shops people use to discuss the family issues, politics or other issues alongwith enjoying sip of tea or chewing the paan. Sadly, a major portion of youths also waste their valuable time by gossiping on irrelevant issues. Subhaspalli chowk of Kishanganj town is one of the very famous chowks of the district.

Daud Paan Shop at Subhapalli chowk is famous all over the district for its delicious paan. Locals visit the shop all through the day to enjoy the paan and passing the evening time. Paschim Palli Chowk, Day market Chowk, Phal patti Chowk, Gandhi Chowk, Caltex Chowk are other famous chowks of Kishanganj town. Outside Kishanganj town LRP chowk, Janta Chowk, Mastan Chowk on the Bahadurganj are some of the popular chowks.



Mastan Chowk is one of the major chowks on the Kishaganj-Bahadurganj road, just 8 kms from district headquarters. Here you will find fresh fish harvested by the fishermen from the Mahananda river



Janta - Kanhyabari chowk is the gateway to the villages like Gangi, Altabari, Desiatoli etc. Janta is famous for its weekly bazaar, in which cattle trading happens.
