Recently a health related Smart Card was distributed among the B.P.L families in Kishanganj district. An initiative of central government as well Bihar government, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana is a special project that caters to people living below poverty line and covers 5 members from per family. With the sincere effort of DM Kishanganj and district administration the card making process was held at various places of the district and thousands of families got the card by paying a nominal charge of Rs. 30.
Features of Smart Card:
The card provides health coverage of RS. 30,000 to a B.P.L family and its five members per year. The card holder and its family need to visit the network hospitals (both government and private) in the district to get treatment. Even the card holder can be admitted in the network hospitals for treatment of diseases. The medicine expanses one day prior to admission in the hospital to one day discharge is covered under the scheme.
The coverage under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana is provided in association with Royal Sundaram Insurance Company. It is complete hassle free health insurance scheme, the card owner just need to carry the card to mentioned network hospitals and the expanse of the treatment will be automatically deducted from Smart Card.
Duration of Policy
Currently the policy is offered for one year that is effective from February 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011. Hope the scheme for B.P.L will be successful and needy people will get proper treatment from the network office.

i am agreed with Dr.saquibs comments and really feel that BPL families are not very much awre of benifits of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana,its a health product which is totally benifits to BPL families and among BPL they are very much Illitrate and governments should take step towards awareness programs,today we have very huge No.of option we can have publicity,and make road shows and nukad natak and lets aware our BPL and make sure they are getti ng their Due advantage.
