Moving a step ahead the AMU Kishanganj Co-ordination Committee met with AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis to know the status quo of the much talked about issue on July 31, 2010 at his residence in Aligarh. Headed by Mohammad Aslam a resident of Mansoora Village in Kishanganj, the team reached Aligarh as per the prior appointment given by the AMU Vice Chancellor a couple of days. Other members in the team were Mohammad Mudassir Alam, Mohammad Mansoor Alam, Tanzilur Rahman, Izhar Alam, Iftekhar-uz-Zaman and Abdul Matin.

The team reached to AMU Vice-Chancellor's lodge at 6 p.m and found the Kishanganj MP Maulana Asrarul Haque also there. Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis warm heartedly welcomed the team and patiently listened the Kishanganj Co-ordination Committee members. Mohammad Aslam tried to express the feelings about the proposed AMU centre in Kishanganj in emotional way. During his talk Mr. Aslam said that the Kishanganj is an educationally and economically backward district of the country, and the opening of AMU study centre in Kishanganj will be a precious gift for the weak people of the area as well as Bihar.

After listening to the team, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis said that the land transfer issue is the biggest hurdle before the proposed AMU study centre in Kishanganj. The Bihar Government has currently offered the land in 3 pieces which is not suitable for running the mammoth university campus. Prof. Azis said that after visiting the proposed land in Kishanganj he had written to the Bihar Government for offering the land in one piece. However, the AMU administration has not got any reply from the Bihar Government. Many issues were discussed regarding the hurdle before AMU study centre in Kishanganj.

At last Prof. Azis suggested the team to talk with Bihar government to look into the matter and transfer the land to AMU on fast basis. The VC played the role of a perfect host and offered a lavish dinner to the team. AMU VC has really shown his concern for the proposed AMU off-campus centre in Kishanganj and made the team members very happy. In a single sentence, the AMU VC Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis has ensured that the AMU administration is fully committed to open the centre in Kishanganj.

Let us hope the matter of AMU centre in Kishanganj will be sorted out at immediate basis by the Bihar Government. AMU Co-ordination Committee is fully committed to take the land transfer issue to Bihar Government and find out a solution before the implementation of Modal Code of Conduct which is supposed to be effective from August 22, 2010.

At the mean time, anyone who reads this report should give his or her feedback regarding the land transfer issue. Next, anyone who has link with Bihar Government and any political leader from Bihar kindly discuss the issue with them to get a solution before August 22, 2010. Unless the issue of AMU off-campus centre in Kishanganj will be a distant dream...................
