Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) declares first list of candidates for Bihar Polls 2010

0
Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) has declared the first list of 58 candidates for Bihar Assembley Elections 2010 on Friday (October 1, 2010). Party president LJP , Mr. Ramvilas Paswan has announced the names of candidates in Patna and said that all community has been considered in the list. However, the list of 58 candidates released by LJP is disappointing for Muslims. With 10 Muslim names in the list, Muslims has been given only 17% share of all 58 seats while Dalit has been given 22% share with 13 names has been included in the list.

The party has given tickets to Muslims namely, Mohammad Aadil Hasan from Balrampur (Katihar), Zakir Hussain from Araria, Shahnawaz Alam from Kasba, Naushad Alam from Thakurganj, Nek Mohammad from Dhaka, Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Kaifi from Hayaghat, Mohammad Jamal from Muzaffarpur, Yasmin Sabir Ali from Narkatia, Kamal Pervez from Kumhrar and Inamul Haque from Bhabhua.

Interestingly, the party which has been raising slogan against upper caste has allotted symbols to 17 candidates belonging to this vey section of the society. This is 29% share which has been given to upper caste by LJP which is much higher than the share given to Muslims. Isn’t it a huge difference between claim and performance of LJP?

LJP is contesting this election in alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal led by Lalu Prasad Yadav. It will contest on 75 seats out of total 243 Assembly seats where polls will be held in 6 phases. The first phase poll will be held on 21 Oct. while last on 20 November. The party will announce the remaining 17 names soon, let us see the LJP will meet the minority expectations or not?
