Migration causes fewer enrollments in Private colleges of Bihar! Issue needs urgent attention

0
In the past decade many private institutions offering contemporary courses like Diploma in Engineering, B.Tech, B.B.A / M.B.A and other related have come into existence in many parts of Bihar including the districts of Kishanganj and Purnia. However, the owners and teachers of such institutions are not happy with response of local people and not getting admissions as per expectations. Are the colleges like AZMET College of Engineering and Technology and Kishanganj Engineering College an alternate to private colleges in far off places like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu? This is a valid question and needs a logical answer.

A Job Fair Organised by AZMET

Migration for education and employment is a common problem for the state of Bihar and neigbouring state of West Bengal. As of now over a million residents of Bihar have migrated to different places in the country especially in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and abroad as well for better education and employment. Of course, there is huge dearth of employment opportunities in the state of Bihar hence the less educated and highly educated move towards the big cities. Similarly, there are only few good institutions in the state of Bihar but the state capital Patna is still a big hub of government recognized colleges and several coaching institutions.

In the recent time, especially in past one decade many private institutions offering Diploma and Engineering courses have been established in various districts of Bihar. Despite offering the technical degrees with affiliation from government recognized universities, the private institutions of Bihar is not getting much attention from the students and guardians of the state. Fact is that, the students and their guardians prefer to get the same degree from far off places like Bangalore, Chennai, Punjab or some little known colleges from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, etc. It is surprising to know that neither the students nor their wards enquire about affiliation of the colleges and other essential details.

By paying a huge amount in fees that usually varies from 2 lakh to 10 lakh, the students of Bihar get admissions in such colleges and after completion of the course mostly remain jobless. You can imagine after spending several lakhs in fees and other expanses if a student doesn’t get a job what type of feeling he or she will have? Surely, he or she will in a big frustration and there are chances that he or she will lose his / her temper. At the same time, the guardian of such students will be in big shock as they have lost valuable money and the career of their beloved children gets ruined.

My assumptions for such institutions are that they don’t care about the career of budding youths nor for their wards. They only care for money and nothing else. A simple suggestion to the students and guardians who are running behind such money-making institutions offering degrees in Business Administration, Technology or Diploma in other fields. Don’t run behind such institutions. Getting a degree from the private institutions of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh or other parts of the country doesn’t have job security. If you really die for having a degree from private institutions look for a suitable college recognized by the state government in Bihar itself

For example, the AZMET College of Engineering & Technology and Kishanganj Engineering College in Kishanganj are offering the same degrees at much less fees structure. However, common perception among people are ‘Ghar Ki Murgi Dal Barabar’ – so these colleges are getting less value from locals. Interestingly the people from other states enquire and take interest about colleges like AZMET / Kishanganj Engineering College. I have received many queries regarding these colleges for admission from far off places like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. If the outsiders are taking interest, then why not the people from Seemachal and other parts of Bihar. This is a big question and it needs attention of all. Running behind only high fees and attractive infrastructure is not going to serve the purpose. Last but not the least, whether it be Kishanganj or Karnataka, if the student is talented enough, he or she can get a job easily after completion of the course.
