Coined from the Dibakar Mukherjee’s film ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’ the title for describing the story of young girls of Purnia division is really unfortunate. It seems the meaning of love and faith between boy and girl has changed in the Purnia division. Sadly in the name of love the young boys in the districts of Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia and Araria are trapping the young girls and later one after spending short time push them into the prostitution work by taking money from the touts There are so many such cases in the Police record itself in the district of Kishanganj. However, several cases didn’t bring into notice by the suffering girls and their wards because of the fear of social boycott.
Recently a report published about the unfortunate Love – Flirt – Prostitution racket in a local Hindi newspaper in which the issue was highlighted. The experts are blaming the mobile culture and satellite channels behind this social evil which is fastly misguiding the youths of the Purnia division. Few girls are rescued too from the brothels but it take long time to recover from the heinous setback and many times the victim girls loss the mental balance, said Farzana Begum the owner of Women Helpline 'Rahat'.
Many girls have been provided shelter by the Women Helpline freed from the brothels of Khagra (Kishanganj), Bishanpur (Bahadurganj), Bahadurganj, Purnia and many other places of four districts. The girls in the brothels are in complete shock and they don’t wish to remember their love and past life. In fact, now they don’t have any faith over the word ‘Love’. Few of the girls currently residing in the Women Helpline are lucky enough that they were rescued before they were about to be pushed into brothels.
The issue of forceful entry of young girls into prostitution in lure of some money needs an urgent attention. As per reports almost everyday such cases of unlawful act is happening in four districts of Purnia division. However, apart from rescuing few girls most of the girls are pushed into the prostitution market. It raises question mark over the mentality of common people especially the youths who are doing such misdeeds and also the administration that hardly takes tough steps to control such menace. Most importantly the mindset of tehno-pro youths of the area needed to be changed into positive direction towards some career oriented training / programmes. Unless the mobile and television culture in the society from where the bad things are absorbed / occupied by youths will kept on continuing. At the same time the district administration need to be more vigil to stop and eradicate the menace from the area.
