About Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalayas (JNVs)
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalayas (JNVs) were set up to provide high quality education for talented rural children, through 'pace setting' residential schools. JNVs are fully residential schools with Class VI to XII affiliated to CBSE Board. Admission is conducted at Class VI level through an open test conducted in 21 languages, including URDU. Education in School is free including Boarding, Loading, uniforms and textbooks.

Where Muslim students stand in JNVs enrollment?
It was found by Sachar Committee that Muslims participation in these schools is extremely low and far below their share in the population. The need of hour is to start coaching centres for preparation for JNVs. A wide publicity needs to be given through community media, particularly by Urdu dailies and Muslim NGOs.
