This past week on Saturday (November 10, 2012) in an unfortunate incident Tahfeem Rahman the younger brother of Kochadhaman MLA Akhtarul Iman had a scuffle with the railway officials at Kishanganj Railway Station. The railway officials with help of active goons (bad elements) in parking stand targeted Iman’s brother after a heated exchange of words over the mismanagement and illegal activities going on at the railway station. In fact, Tafhim reached the spot to save the youths of village who could not board the North East Express due to heavy rush. They were being beaten by the goons, when Tafhim tried to save them he was attacked as well. After fighting with Iman’s brother, the railway officials filed an FIR with Kishanganj Police Station alleging him for attacking them with weapons.
However, on Wednesday (November 14, 2012) while talking with media, the legislature from Kochadhaman constituency of Kishanganj went heavily against the railways and its officials. He said that the Kishanganj Railway Station has become a safe home for the criminals and many gangs are active that comprise of 30-35 people. One of the gang is making menace at the cycle stand and motorcycle stand.
Although after strict order of Railway SP (Superintendent of Police) Dr. Sukhan Paswan two of the accused Dular Chand and Dilip Gupta have been arrested by GRP and sent to Katihar Jail. While other accused are at large and the RJD MLA has demanded immediate arrest of all involved in furious scuffle. In fact, Iman has threatened the Railways to take immediate action unless he will agitate on the railway station with party workers and there are fair possibility of rail roko abhiyan.
While contacted over phone by Editor of KBC, Iman appeared quite upset over the act of railways and its concern for common people. He said the corruption and criminal activities are thriving at large scale at Kishanganj Railway Station. Further he added stiff action should be taken by administration for putting hold on misdeeds of criminals and touts.
The act of Saturday is a wakeup call for all, as the criminal activities and touts are flourishing at a large scale at Kishanganj Railway Station for past few years. Other elected representatives from Kishanganj constituency including Member of Parliament Maulana Asrarul Haque should give proper attention into the issue. If the criminals are not nabbed this time they can target other people like past in the coming time as well.
