Aaj Tak reporter faces eve-teasing while reporting on Delhi gangrape case

Delhi's heinous gangrape of a paramedic student in a moving bus is fresh in mind of countrymen. The inhuman act of the rapists drew the nation's attention to the national capital and media widely covered the follow-up action. In an attempt to bring the shortcomings of police and government,  Anjana Kashyap, a Aaj Tak faced eve teasing at one of the busiest roads of the city on Monday night. She was reporting on the case from outside Safdarjung Hospital, where the gangrape victim has been admitted and still continues to be in a critical condition.

Around 11.30 pm, Kashyap was hackled near AIIMS flyover in south Delhi by three men who arrived there in a car. With the camera rolling and the reporter speaking live, the group's action was captured. The footage shows a WagonR car stopping next to the reporter while she was speaking on the camera. One of the men, who was sitting behind, said something and smiled. The trio then noticed the camera and the cameraman, who intervened immediately. The men realised their mistake and soon vanished from the scene.

The incident was an on-the record example for the Delhi government and the police of how women were harangued in the city in full public glare on the busiest of roads. After the reality check, Kashyap blamed missing police from the city roads for such incidents. She said there was almost zero police patrolling on the city roads at night and the Delhi Police's famous line "with you, for you, always" was good only for criminals.
