Another international feather seems to be added in the cap of historic land of Bihar as Shilpa Singh is representing India at the Miss Universe contest in Las Vegas. If things go well for Shilpa, India can have third Miss Universe title in its kitty. A software engineer by profession, Shilpa Singh is going to compete for the world’s coveted title on December 19 thousands of miles away from the country. 23 year old Shilpa has born at Diha village situated in Singhia Block of Samastipur district. Her father Suresh Singh, mother Rita Singh, elder brother Salabh Singh and relatives have kept their fingers crossed for the title of Miss Universe 2012.

As soon the news of Shilp’s performance in swimsuit round was aired / published in various news sources the people of country especially Bihar filled her Facebook account with appreciation and best wishes. In the swimsuit round she flaunted her curves to great effect to reach another round.
A model by passion, Shilpa had completed her studies from Muzaffarpur, Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Currently she is employed with Infosys and her first challenge is to ensure a place in the last 16. This year 89 beautiful women from across the world are fighting for the big title ‘Diamond Nexus Crown’ at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
India’s tryst with Miss Universe has not been mush exciting. Sushmita Sen was the first India to win the crown in the year 1994. In the year 2000, Lara Dutta won the Miss Universe crown for India, which was second for the country. Incidentally, she has been groomed by none else but former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, who is giving invaluable tips to her.
The road to Las Vegas for Shilpa is a matter of fortune. Actually she was crowned first runner-up at the ‘I am she - Miss Universe 2012’. However, later the winner Urvashi Rautela was dethroned due to controversy over her age and Shilpa got the crown. If the lady luck smiles on Shilpa one more time she will earn glory for her motherland India. Lets us hope for the Miss Universe crown for India after the wait of about 12 years.
