AMU Kishanganj land row! Non bailable arrest warrant against SC/ST commission chief Tuddu

Continuing its strict efforts to discourage the anti-social tribal people Manoj Kumar, the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) of Kishanganj on Wednesday (December 12, 2012) has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Babulal Tuddu, the Chairman of the SC / ST Commission in connection with AMU Kishanganj land row. Tuddu has been booked under various sections of IPC (Indian Panel Code) namely 147/148/149/ 447/ 353/ 153 (A) / 295 (A)/ 307 and 120 (b) for trespassing in the prohibited area earmarked for the upcoming campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in the district headquarters of Kishanganj.

On Sunday (December 9, 2012) a group of tribals led by Tuddu carrying traditional bows and arrows reached the 224.02 acres of AMU land and tried to capture a piece of the land. The tribal were claiming the site was a ‘bandobast’ land given to them free of cost by the state government for their livelihood and had been wrongfully acquire. The district authorities on getting information took a quick action and rushed to the site and vacated the place before arresting to persons in this connection. Police had also seized a new Bolero vehicle from the spot besides bows and arrows.

Kishanganj DM Sandeep Kumar R Pudakalkatti had already said that "not an inch of the land given to AMU belonged to the tribals". The land which was settled with the tribals lies beyond the AMU's land. 


Tuddu has been charged under various IPC sections pertaining to promoting communal frenzy, attempt to murder and intimidation. On Tuesday the CJM refused to grant bail to the five persons, including Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram secretary Madhav Tripathy and Janjati Hit Raksha Pracharak Ajay Kumar Singh, who were arrested on December 9 for trying to perform the 'dhanush puja' on the AMU's land.
