Tribals tried to take over AMU Kishanganj land, evicted by administration

0
Tribals (actually puppet of some anti-social group) tried to capture a piece of land of the proposed campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at Kishanganj on Sunday. The tribals carrying traditional bows and arrows reached the 224.02 acres AMU site and tried to perform the ‘Puja’ for capturing the land. As per authentic sources the tribals are working under the influence of some politically motivated and trying to give communal colour with such illegal activities. However, the villagers of neighbouring Chakla Village, residents of district headquarters and other parts of the district had shown full patience to tackle the issue.

The common public have taken over the streets and disrupted traffic under the leadership of Kochadhaman MLA Akhtarul Iman and other political leaders including Chakla Mukhiya Mohammad Junaid. In response to chaos the District authorities have rushed to the site and took away the tribals. Two persons have been arrested in connection with unlawful acts.

While the Kishanganj District Magistrate (DM) Sandeep Kumar Pudakalkatti was contacted over phone he had rejected the claims of tribal people that that land belonging to them. Pudakalkatti made it clear that the 224.02 acres land of AMU is not a ‘bandobast’ land and it is totally the land of government of Bihar which had been officially transferred to the AMU for the establishment of varsity campus.

When talked with Mukhiya Junaid he said that the situation is under control and police force has taken over the land for safety. A demand for establishing the Police Post beside the AMU land is also done from the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by the locals, said Junaid.

Mohammad Aslam, President Human Chain, a non government society of Seemanchal people was quite upset after the Sunday event. He said that the district administration must need to take the matter seriously unless the tribals might try to encroach the land further as well. Untill and unless the boundary wall is constructed such anti-social elements would try to disrupt the university site, told the AMU alumni Aslam. Need of the hour is that the Centre government should immediately release Rs. 25 – 50 crore fund for AMU Kishanganj so that the boundary wall can be constructed, added Aslam.

This is really unfortunate that a section is playing dirty politics with the proposed AMU Kishanganj. The land is targeted time-and-again by the anti-social and communal group with the help of tribals, who are being paid one to two hundred rupees per person for doing such misdeeds. On Sunday the locals have shown enough patience by not violating law & order and left the matter with District administration. However the local administration must be vigil for discouraging such unlawful act dones by tribal people.
