AMU Vice Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Zameeruddin Shah on his visit to Kishanganj had addressed to media persons during press conference organized at the Circuit House. Along with media professionals there was a gathering of politicians, activists, educationists, pressure groups namely Kishanganj Education Movement (KEM) and Human Chain team comprising of President Mohammad Aslam, Tauquir Alam, Parwez Mohammad, Manazir Ahsan, Salman Akhtar, Sarfaraz Khan Rinku among many others. Mr. Shah was satisfied with the requirements for setting up the Centre at Kishanganj after visiting the site.

Lt. Shah is his address to media / people said: "AMU is thankful to the Government for allowing it to expand and granting permission to open its Centres. AMU is also thankful to the Government of Bihar for allocation of required land.

You may be aware that we could start classes in Mallapuram and Murshidabad with the active participation of the state governments, which provided support like approach road, provision for electricity and water, etc. Mallapuram Centre also provided rent free furnished buildings for holding classes till we completed our construction.

We are sure that the government of Bihar will provide the same facilities and facilitate speedy commencement of the work.

The process to open Kishanganj Center has gained momentum with the promise of Hon’ble Minister for HRD to allocate funds for preparation of DPR. We are waiting for government sanctions of funds for DPR. The Union Human Resources Development Ministry has promised to sanction Rs 30 lakh to AMU to prepare DPR (Detailed Project Report) of the new campus. This will give impetus to our efforts.

After getting the DPR, the HRD ministry will need to allocate Rs. 30 crore for construction of the new campus as indicated to the Hon’ble HRD Minister.

AMU is keen to start area relevant job oriented courses such as polytechnics and other vocational courses subject to assistance from the government of Bihar and sanction of money from the UGC. DM Kishanganj has been asked to prepare estimates for approach road and other requirements. This indicated that things are moving. Sanctions, however, should be expeditious."
