Yesterday I received a call from a new number starting with +92 which actually belongs to Pakistan. The person was posing as IDEA customer care executive said that since I am an IDEA customer so I have been selected for Prize money of Rs. 25 lakh from Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The person was asking for my details for handing over the prize money and asked me to call back in the number. However, I applied my mind on time and recalled the precautionary message given by KBC host Amitabh Bachchan and other channels. I asked the person from where you are calling. He replied, “I am calling from Mumbai”. In fact, he got annoyed when I started to grill him and in frustration said, “Mumbai se nahin toh kya Jharkhand se phone kar raha hun”. He disconnected the phone in hurry and told that call back on the number if I am wishing the Prize money.

Beware of Call

After the call I tried to investigate the matter on Google. Oh my God, there were several cases in front of me through Google search in which the reports about fraudulent cases done by the number starting with +92 were before me. There have been instances where people have received SMSes and calls informing them that they have won a lottery. They are then asked to reveal personal details and later they become victim of fraud. Further the fraudster attempts to con customers into divulging sensitive personal information and to pay a "commission" to receive the winnings.

On the safer side, this is being advised if you receive a call or missed call from an unidentified number starting with +92, do not attend the call or call back or divulge any personal details. (+92 is Pakistan's international direct dialing code).
