Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announces new University in Purnea

0
If things go well, in right direction as per planning , the long wait of people of  Purnea division for having a University may finally come to an end. On Monday, June 13, 2016, while addressing a meeting of elected representative of the four districts of Purnia division, namely Purnea, Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria, the Chief Minister of Bihar Mr. Nitish Kumar made the announcement to open a state University. The announcement of Bihar CM literally bring the smile in the faces of around 2 crore people residing in Seemanchal, which is considered the most backward regions in Bihar as well as the country on various development indexes.

The CM made this announcement after a meeting with Public representatives of Purnea division including MPs and MLAs of the region. Mr. Kumar said the state government would bring a Bill for opening the university in the coming monsoon session of Bihar assembly. The CM asked the Purnia district administration and local representatives to identify location and land for opening the new State University.

It should be noted that situated in northeast part of the state, Purnea division is still lacking a university as well as any prominent institution for higher studies. The proposal of establishing the University in Purnia is seen a big gift as it would probably empower the local people and ensure all round growth. Although the special centre of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at Kishanganj had brought lots of hopes, but the lack of fund and least concern of the central government has badly affected the growth of the upcoming campus at Chakla village in outskirts of Kishanganj district headquarters. Hope, the proposal of state government get proper attention and the new University comes up into existence shortly.
