Sir Syed Day celebrated at AMU Kishanganj Centre

The Kishanganj Centre of Aligarh Muslim University recently celebrated the 199th Birth Anniversary of AMU founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan with great fervour exhilaration. While delivering his address, Chief Guest, Dr Abdul Ghafoor, Minister of Minority Affairs, Government of Bihar stressed on the thoughts and ideology of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. He pointed out that Sir Syed had thought of establishing an institution well ahead of his time. During his address, the Chief Guest also assured to extend help in providing at least two hostels of 100 beds each for boys and girls. Dr Ghafoor also informed that a team from his department and the State Education Department will be soon dispatched to meet the Union HRD Ministry to ensure quick release of funds.



On the Occasion, Dr Raashid Nehal, Director, AMU Kishanganj Centre spoke on how Sir Syed contributed to a generation change among Indian Muslims. He added that Sir Syed's values, ideas and critical thinking are relevant to the current issues of development.

Guest of Honour, Mr Mujahid Alam, MLA, Kochadhaman highlighted the struggles that Sir Syed Ahmad Khan had to face for the establishment MAO College, which later became Aligarh Muslim University. While concluding his address, Mr Alam stressed on the learning of English as the need of the hour, which Sir Syed had for thought about during his time. Dr Mohammad Jawaid, MLA Kishanganj, who also attended the function as the Guest of Honour thanked the Government of Bihar for allocating the land for the establishment of AMU Kishanganj Centre.

Meanwhile, winners of different events such as Sir Syed Debate, Business and Education Quiz and Presentation-cum-Assignment Programme were felicitated to commemorate the Sir Syed Day Celebrations. Mr Mohd Asjad Ansari conducted the programme while Dr Razi-ur-Rahim proposed the vote of thanks.
