In a bizarre accident a bus (BR 11 A 3112) of St. Xavier’s English School carrying students of Class V & VI overturned near Bahadurganj Moad (turn) in Kishanganj on Monday (July 19, 2010). The bus was carrying around three dozens students including boys and girls. The injured students had been hospitalised in the city’s MGM Hospital and Sadar Hospital. About one dozen students got seriously injured in the accident, and two dozens students had been relieved from the hospital after primary treatment. Soon after getting the news about the bus stand the parents / wards of the students rushed towards the hospitals and school to know about their children.
According to witness the bus driver was over-speeding and lost control over the vehicle while taking a sharp turn. The driver fled from the accident spot leaving behind the screaming injured children and his conductor as well. The negligence of the driver led to the accident, and it could have been fatal as well. Along with St. Xavier’s School, the private schools of Kishanganj like Bal Mandir Public School, Oriental Public School and Emanuel Mission School should give strong guidelines to their drivers and take full care about the safety of school children.
