RTI reveals Rafi Ahmad Kidwai University, Kishanganj under govt's consideration

The proposal of three minority universities namely, Rafi Ahmad Kidwai University of Health & Medical Sciences, Kishanganj (Bihar), Tipu Sultan University of Science and Technology, Bangalore (Karnataka) and Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz University of Professional, Technical and Vocational Education, Ajmer (Rajasthan) hit the national news headlines after the Hon'ble Minister of Minority Affairs K. Rahman Khan mentioned during his speech in Rajya Sabha on November 22, 2012. Mr. Khan said that his ministry would reach to state governments for getting the required land to establish the universities on immediate basis.

Since its announcement during UPA I the proposed minority universities could not a physical shape due to feasibility as per its norms. First among them is availability of Wakf land in the states of Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

In response to Mr. Khan's statement the Editor of KishanganjBihar.com filed an RTI in the office of Minority Affairs ministry and received following reply:
