A National Intelligence Agency (NIA) team, which visited Kishanganj on Sunday, quizzed a person named as Shamshad who has allegedly amassed property and wealth disproportionate to his business at his village home at Gangi under Bahadurganj police station in Kishanganj district. Though apparently, the NIA team quizzed Shamshad for amassing whopping wealth and property, the possibility of his allegedly links with terrorist outfits was also not ruled out, sources said.

Shamshad, though a native of Kishanganj district, has been working as a tailor in Mumbai, and appears to have amassed wealth and property vastly disproportionate to his known source of income. He has lately built up a huge empire at his native village and Bahadurganj, police said. Kishanganj police had hand picked him three days back and also took him to an undisclosed destination where he was grilled for several hours. As nothing incriminating was found in his case, he was let off the hook after furnishing a personal bond, police said.

Kishanganj superintendent of police (SP) Manoj Kumar had earlier told that Shamshad was released after interrogation on personal bond. He was, however, put under the scanner. Though police are tightlipped, the NIA sleuths were summoned to examine if Shamshad was part of any cover operation or if he used his wealth to fund any subversive outfit.

SP Kumar on Monday, said since the NIA team was already in Bihar, he thought it prudent to summon them so that the cobweb of doubt, if any, was thoroughly dispelled. Shamshad was again set free but only after local eminent people assured that he would be brought before them if ever he was wanted for interrogation or other related affairs, the SP said.
